6-30-09 Half-Price Tickets

Found this flyer on the table in the break room at work today. Too bad I paid full price five days ago. (We had lots of fun and it was worth what I paid but I hate a missed bargain!)

91 degrees is cool in this burning inferno of a state we call home.

A pretty typical scene in our house on any given Sunday morning. Newspaper strewn about, kitties lounging, laptop somewhere within reach, standing in the kitchen.

While we were downtown checking out the sites, doing a little shopping and visiting the Farmer's Market in the Rivermarket District in Little Rock, we observed this scene. Cars must park behind the white line on the road, otherwise the trolley cannot get by. The jeep did not park well, so it was towed. All of this was overseen by the police officer, the trolley operator, and approximately 10 bystanders.

Patriotic Bears for the Armed Forces at Build-A-Bear in the Park Plaza Mall, Little Rock, AR.

After our trip to the mall, we had dessert at The Purple Cow in honor of my Sister-In-Law's favorite color: Purple. This was my purple vanilla milkshake. Very tasty but very thick!

Some of my family is in town visiting. We went to the Museum of Discovery in downtown Little Rock then attended the Movies in the Park viewing of Shrek the Third, not to mention the time spent in the fountains downtown built for kids to play in.

In preparation for out of town guests, we had to relocate our smallest kitten (who is still in isolation) to our bathroom. He felt a little cramped in there, I guess, or he's just ready to explore the world, since he repeatedly made a break for it.

While J was organizing for out-of-town guests, he was filing some papers. LB decided he needed to see what that was all about. Filed under "cute"

Traffic was bad on the way home on Thursday, 6/18/09 and Friday, 6/19/09 and especially bad on the morning of 6/22/09. The cause of the traffic slowdown on Friday was apparently roadwork.

We planted a garden from seed with the following: beefsteak tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, zucchini, cucumbers, crook-neck squash, jalepeno peppers, bell peppers, lettuce, thyme, and catnip. It's been exciting to watch it develop from seed. We have our first bloom on a tomato plant. I cannot wait to savor the taste of a home-grown tomato again. It's been a long time.

We had lunch with my brother, sister and mom on Monday of our visit before returning to Arkansas. My brother had been talking via Facebook with my friend D'wan about trying to keep us in Ohio. One of his later attempts had been through the use of duct tape. The picture speaks for itself.

During the trip to Ohio that we took in early June, we visited my friend Deb and her husband Alex and their new son Stefan. We got to spend some quality time with them which was really nice. We relaxed, snacked and chatted.

Attended Karen and Bill's Wedding this weekend. They got married at Mill Creek Park in Youngstown, Ohio. They really made their wedding their own, including Karen entering to the Jurassic Park theme and their recession to the theme to The Legend of Zelda. It was nice to share their special day.

My birthday is 6/1. I often look at the numbers I see to see if I find any meaning in them. There was something noteworthy about the number I noted on my mileage counter in my car on the morning of my birthday this year:

Bandwagon

I am pretty into taking photos of lots of stuff. I used to say I was a tourist in my own town.

I have several friends who attempt the Project 356 photo project for one reason or another. I hear it's a pretty hard thing to do - remember to take and post a picture everyday. But lately I've noticed that I've been taking and mobile-posting more pictures lately. I also like the idea of trying to capture something from everyday. So here goes... Gonna jump on this bandwagon.

I guess my reasons are the same as anyone's:
  • I want to have my pictures easily accessible and to trigger memories from the good days and the bad days.
  • It will be a bit of a challenge.
  • I need something else to do (ok not really).
  • I take a bunch of pictures all the time anyway. Might as well melt them down to something of at least some quality.
  • I think all of my adoring fans need more details about what happens in my life.
